  • Wedding song for mother/groom

This song has been chosen as the one my only son and I will dance to at his wedding reception. (First of all, I just love Kenny Rogers.) 2nd the words help to celebrate the close relationship my son and I have always had , but the words are not to be interpreted that either of us are not ready to embrace the next events of his life with his bride. It's JUST a song!

  • Mother Son Dance

I have been searching for the perfect song to dance with my sons at My wedding. I have been a single mother and the words to this song are perfect!! What my boys and I have been through together and what they have taught me is amazing. I cannot wait to dance with my two men :)

  • Great Idea for this song

We are using this song for a bouquet song. Instead of having a bouquet toss and garter toss we are having all the married/dating couples on the dance floor and after so much time into the song the DJ will announce anyone married/together for less than 5 years sit down (the bride and groom stay up the entire song)... 10 years... 15 years and so on until just the bride and groom and the longest married couple remain at which point that couple gets the bouquet.

  • Perfect song/perfect arena

The song reflect historic time to pasted with dear ones... it is not for couples alone. It was an emotional time for both siblings as they reflect on their survival and mother missed at this point.

  • through the years of Fruitful Love

Through the years, when everything went wrong
Together we were strong, I know that I belong
Right here with you ... Through the years
I never had a doubt, we'd always work things out
I've learned what love's about, by loving you
    Through the years
for me this lines are perfect for us that's why me & my husband like this songs too much.....Luv yuuu so much dad

  • LIfe to last

It is the song of love that we can remember as the time goes by... she's exactly right... it more likely an anniversary song rather than a wedding song. but its good to hear that song from the one you had loved..

  • our song

For me, this song suits our wedding for we were engaged for many years, and there are lots of things that occured. And while walking next to him, there will definitely no doubts that we can face life no matter what as long as we have each other. This is more than a romantic song, this is also indeed a meaningful one.

  • Perfect song

We chose this song for our wedding because although my husband and I have been married for 15 years we didn't have a reception and we are getting married by a catholic church, so this sing I think is appropriate for couples who have cohabitated or similar situation.

  • Paula & Shanelle

    Ladies,
This wonderful woman can take a beautiful song that was played at a wedding for what it was. A tribute to two women in this man's life who shaped him into the man his wife loves and chose to devoe her life to. The parents' legacies move on throuh their children. This Mother taught her children to love and respect their families. What more beautiful way to do that than to have this scene at a wedding... Something old (the love for and promise to the mother), something new (the new bride and wonderful memories), something borrowed (the love and support of everyone present), something blue (the ache and nostalgia for someone who can't be there).

  • the lyrics

i don't care if it is a wedding song or a anniversary song, the important is this song is too memorable for me..May 8,2009 was the first time i sing this song and that was the time when my boyfriend cry because of the meaning..you know why? cause we always help each other in any trials. and i promise to him that "as long as it's okay I'll stay with him through the years...

  • Through the Years

I heard this song in the 70's and knew when I had been married for 25 years it would play at the vow renewal ceremony. Here I am, 1 month away from that ceremony and eagerly awaiting the dance with my husband. The words very acurately describe the 30 years we have known each other. While the first 5 years of dating may have fit, the lyrics seem directed toward two long time lovers who endured the "for better or worse", and let me tell you, over 25 years of marriage you will defintely live out the words to this song.

  • Through the years

My husband and I selected this song for our 25th wedding anniversary because it really described our life through the years. Now my husband is gone (past away in 2007) and this song keeps reminding me the why I felt in love with him as well as bringing beautiful memories of our 31 years of marriage and that wonderful day on 9/22/01 when we celebrated our wedding anniversay. This song always brings tears but also a reminder of a beautiful promise of love made between my husband and I.

  • To Each His Own

I disagree with Shanelle and Paula. My Husband chose to dance to this song with his mom and the reason why it meant so much was because he had gone through some tough times physical, and psychological. Through the whole time even though he pushed his mom away she continued to love and support him. Some people don't have the same story and different songs speak to people in a different way. For him it was more of I appreciate you being there and I will always be here for you.

  • Through the Years

We sang this song at my parent's fiftieth anniversary pary and it was very moving. They have now been married for 64 years. They have been together through bad and good times, births (6 of us), deaths (my brother and nephew, and of course their own parents and siblings. They have weathered financial hardship and are now comfortable (no money problems). Their love for my brothers and me has been shown again and again.

  • Using this song for my wedding!

I've been with my boyfriends since high school - we've been waiting for the right time to get married. Since then we've gone through college, ventured through business together as entrepreneurial parters and grown up together --- 10 years =D

I'm planning to use this for our first dance as husband and wife while a video montage of the past 10 years plays in the background. I love this song...

  • Perfect Anniversary Song

I played this song to my wife when we celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary, and there wasn't a dry eye in the house - of 60 people.

  • hope it was for me

this song is a fav song of a woman who is proud of herself being a lesbian in a good way.even she has lots or relationships still shes keeping this song to someone.... I wish it was ME

    dominique 2008-03-30

  • So Cute

I love this song, but I do think it's better for anniversaries. It just doesn't fit a wedding, because weddings are like new love. Through The Years talks about being together for a long time.

    Molly 2008-03-09

  • It's for all...

This song is for everyone. It should not be pigeonholed. Of course, it was certainly written about two lovers (who don't HAVE to be married anyway) that have stayed together for life. However, Kenny Rogers states that the song has been played for parents and their children, and what is wrong with that? Can't parents celebrate the relationship they have with their children and vice versa, just like two lovers can celebrate a totally different kind of relationship between each other?

Kenny Rogers himself stated that one fan once told him this was the song the family played at their father’s funeral; which he was pleased about. While this song reminds me first and foremost of my wife, after hearing that I realized that on a different scale it can also sum up relationships with other dear ones in my life, and that shows what a great song this is! If my children played this at my funeral, then I would rest easy, knowing I did my job as a parent.

  • It's perfect...

I feel this song is perfect for my father and I. No man in my past has ever stood by my side or showed me unconditional love like my father. Now that I have found someone incredible that treats me wonderful, I feel this song is the one song that my dad and I can share to show how much we have been through together and how much we mean to one another...

    Andi 2008-01-15

  • A tribute to my Dad

I heard this beautiful song by chance and thought how apt it was for my Dad. He's only recently become a Grandad to my daughter and everyday that he spends with her shows me how great a father he's always been and continues to be to me, and now to my daughter. If only he knew how much I truly am grateful for his wisdom and love...all through the years. I love you, Papa.

  • It brought down the house...

I just returned from a wedding where it was played when the groom danced with his only sibling, his older sister. In the past 2 years they've been dealing with their mother's death from cancer and it was a very emotional time for everyone. Their mom had made the groom promise to dance with his sister at the wedding, this was the song he chose. Not a dry eye in the house. It was very appropriate for a little brother to dedicate to his big sister.

    Auntie Colleen 2007-10-31

  • wedding

I don't think this song should be a wedding song. It's more of an anniversary song. It shows that love is strong when there's someone returning it. Through the good times and bad.

    Paula 2007-05-16

  • Through the Years Lyrics

I do not think that this song should be for the groom and mother or for the bride and father. This song lend more to the times a couple share before the marriage. It give a feeling that the children do not want to move on or vice versa.
