Amazing Grace Comments

  • One nation UNDER GOD is AMERICA

AMAZING GRACE. GOD's love for His own. He is coming in the clouds to take us out and let the evil prevail then. We will ride with KING JESUS as his army when he unleashes His Fury against every abomination that is growing. VICTORY IN JESUS. Thank you for this Amazing Grace. I believe he is soon coming. Look at the signs. Evil on every corner. Church arise and be not afraid THE KING IS COMING, THE KING IS COMING, PRAISE GOD HE IS COMING FOR ME, AND YOU IF YOU BELONG TO JESUS. AMEN!! COME LORD JESUS, COME.

  • "I once was lost

    "I once was lost
    But now am found"

    relates to:

..found by "The hour .. That Grace appear ...To sing God's praise" (in the lyrics)

  • "Some people my not realize" reply

It's about someone who did not believe. The lost feeling that accompanies a life without purpose, a life with no meaning. Then finding the truth, that there is purpose to existence, that life does have meaning.

It is depressing to believe that there is no reason for life. Finding it would truly be like a "sweet sound." One can understand the feeling to be like a weight lifted from off of one's shoulders.

    "I once was lost
    But now am found"

to translate: I once had no purpose, but now I see the reason for life.

This is about someone learning of God's pure love for them.

  • ummm...

Joe seems a little bitter. I wonder if he even notices when the sun is shining. Amazing Grace is a spiritual and its ALL about God and how lost we were before we found Him.

And "this is not in no kind of order"?......really? Was "all jackerd up" high when he wrote that?

  • Foolish Joe

"This song is about someone not finding faith but losing it.

    "I once was lost
    But now am found"

to translate: I once was brain washed but now I'm not.

This is about someone learning that Religion is all a bunch of baloney."
The song was written by a man who realized the evil of the slave trade you fool. It was after writing this song he became a Christian Priest. So, the song is not about losing faith, its about getting it. Meaning, "Once I was in darkness, but God opened my eyes." The song is all about learning that God convicts people's hearts to the truth, and if they listen to him then they can change the world for good.

  • some people may not realize

    Joe, you are so wrong.

You may think it is funny to mock God but he who denies his name will be denied in heaven. Go ahead and poke fun, but this song is NOT about losing faith

  • Amazing

I disagree with Joe. You could say this song is about losing faith but I don't. I believe this song is about finding you own faith. Yes, faith can be brain washing, if falsely found. However, faith can also cure the blind, in a mater of speaking.

Umm, Joe, have you ever head the story of John Newton? He was captain of a slave ship for 20 years, when a life-threatening accident changed his mind. He repented his sins, and then he wrote this song. Afterward, he spent the rest of his life as the pastor of a church.
"I once was lost, but now am found"
He meant that he was lost and blind in sin before he found God, or I should say before God found him. This is a song of love and forgiveness, and thankfulness for God's Amazing Grace.

  • Amazing

Thins song is so great. Not only for a wedding, but it can also be sang for a childs bed time song, or any type of thing. My mother sang this song to me when i was a small child and i know all of the lyrics by heart. This is a beautiful song, and it is my favorite song. It reaminds me of my child hood and my family. We had this tradition where on every Sunday after chirch we would all light one candle and sing Amazing Grace together. And not to long ago my brother had died and this was the song that was played at his funaral. I love this song. It is a definant 10. If i could i would give it 1,000.

  • Even better with the correct lyrics...

Amazing grace how sweet the sound
that saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
    and grace my fears relieved;
how precious did that grace appear
    the hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
    I have already come;
'tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
and grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
    His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
    As long as life endures.

Yes when this heart and flesh shall fail,
    And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil
A life of joy and peace.

When we've been there ten thousand years
    bright shining as the sun,
we've no less days to sing God's praise
    than when we've first begun.

    10/10 for an awesome hymn

  • Great

I love this song so much. It's so beautiful and elegant. I once sang it at my school for O.V.Jewitt Idol. The whole school loved it. They were clapping and whistling and yelling. I'm telling you I rate this song a 10 from a scale 1-10
